Red River Brewing Company & Distillery
Red River, New Mexico
Relishing mountain-blend brewing tradition in the heart of northern Mexico
Red River Brewing & Distillery stands in New Mexico at 8,750 feet, where the mountain water tastes far better than any tap-water you’re used to, and the air is spirit itself.
They churn out 18 craft beers, one of them a root-beer that shows you can still taste the old-fashioned in this age of foam. Each bottle comes with its own story.
The distillery turns that premium water into spirits that have snagged more awards than a pretentious gallery owner, and each dram is smoother than a well-timed roast for future enthusiasts.
The restaurant mixes New Mexico’s chiles with Texas barbecue, serving brisket tacos that could make a carnivore weep, and a menu that refuses to be boring while the staff is enthusiastic.
Outside, the parking is an open-air lot where you can drive into the sunset and still spot the distillery’s glow — the only time I admit a place deserves long toast.
