Warfield Distillery & Brewery
Ketchum, Idaho
Handcrafted mountain brews and spirits
Warfield Distillery & Brewery in Ketchum, Idaho, still hand-crafts spirits and beers with copper pot stills and a proper mash, not that mass-produced nonsense. The whole place is set in the mountains, and they go to great lengths to source local organic ingredients, even serving shrimp and grits — a bold, if confusing, choice. Their gin is smooth enough to make you forget the way they describe it as “aromatic,” and their whiskeys come in oddball twists that raise a connoisseur's eyebrows.
There’s a bar by a fire pit, better than any café claiming a “cozy” vibe. The patio offers a view of the real surrounding mountains, not a staged backdrop. Membership clubs, like the Whiskey Club, grant releases no one will read about in any guidebook.
Service is surprisingly good, despite a menu that tries too hard to be avant-garde.
