Denali Spirits
Talkeetna, Alaska
Alaska’s Frontier of Craft Spirits
At the foot of Denali Mountain, where the Koyuk, Nox, and Talkeetna rivers clash like a drunken trio, Denali Spirits is pushing the limits of Alaskan whisky-making.
They turn spruce tips into gin with the same ferocity you’d expect from a moose on a sugar rush and distil vodka so clear it could serve as a forensic microscope.
Small-batch production runs through a copper still christened Django Reinhardt – a fitting tribute, because both are hard to find and a bit of a legend.
It’s employee-owned, so every bottle carries a personal signature, like a cryptic postcard from a Siberian nomad who actually knows what he’s doing.
The releases are rare, the quality per batch unpredictable, and the anticipation is higher than a lizard on a heat-lamp. In short, Denali Spirits is proving that even a cold frontier can produce hot, honest whisky.
